Congratulations, you’ve started your PhD Journey. Have you noticed that aren't many signposts and there seem to be an awful lot of potholes and speed bumps?! Find out about important resources available to you, common PhD problems to avoid, and tips for managing productive collaboration with your supervisors and others. Better yet, you’ll leave with planning tools and advice to help you finish on time.

This Focus Session is designed to help you plan your PhD journey. Set aside some dedicated time for guided reflection and exchange on how to manage your PhD, common challenges that may arise, and how you plan to achieve your PhD goals.
The session will help you to reflect on
- the strengths you have and what competencies you need to build on
- how to maintain your wellbeing during your PhD
- planning steps to achieve your overall goals and publication strategy
The outcome of the session will be a 12 month plan of action, based on guided self-reflection and exchange with peers during the workshop.

- Guided individual reflection and goal-setting

- Peer exchange
What should I bring? Please bring your laptop, any hard copy planners / diaries / calendars you are currently using, any notes you have on your PhD goals / timelines
Who should come? PhDs who have recently started their PhD or are roughly in the first 1/3 of the journey
