Who should come?
PhD candidates who have drafted a first manuscript already or are in the process of doing so.
Content:
The publication of a research paper in a journal can be a long and difficult process. It involves many stages to be completed before submission and after that, the reviewing process is a challenge for itself. This workshop will help you to understand the various steps involved in the process and getting clarity about what you can do at your end to make the process as smooth as possible.In particular, it addresses these topics:
- different categories of academic papers
- managing co-authorships
- working practices of journals
- choosing a journal
- open-access journals (including “predatory” journals)
- peer review process
- responding to reviews
- writing a peer review
The session will help you to:
- plan your publication(s)
- understand the editorial process of journals and their expectations
- understand the review process
- structure your paper in a way that peer-reviewers and editors find acceptable
- deal with critcal feedback of reviewers
- know about the do´s and don´ts in academic reviewing
