Shut Up and Write! GOLDEN DAY

Join us at our next Shut Up and Write! GOLDEN DAY Maybe you've heard about snack writing, or daily writing, and seen the advice about two golden hours? The reality of most PhDs is that at some point you need a writing binge, so we’ll support you to make it possible without going hungry or hurting yourself.
When Feb 03, 2020
from 09:00 AM to 04:30 PM
Where Tennenbacherstraße 4, room 106

6-25 places available, register by 31 Jan at 09:00 (we need to know how many snacks are needed!)

Our GS Members agree, the GOLDEN DAY boosts productivity and helps them to get writing done. The five minute breaks look annoying (and sometimes are) but are very necessary for body and brain health! Kim will be on hand to support you and keep you to task.

Who should come?
SHUT UP AND WRITE GOLDEN DAYS are aimed at any stage PhD student that has a piece of writing they need to get on with and are prepared to set aside this day for. Attendance should be for the full day, unless individually agreed with the GS. (Reschedule those other appointments! Your supervisors will be impressed with your dedication to writing!)

Goals:
By the end of the day you will have successfully dedicated time to intensively writing, as well as connecting with GS fellows who are in the process too.

What do I need?
You will be provided with support in advance to plan for a productive day, but for now, plan to bring any piece of work that you would like to focus on, some key texts or notes that you need to work from for this piece of writing, and your writing tools - laptop (with charger!), tablet, or pen and paper. Either bring lunch, or use the generous lunch break to head out with your fellow GS Golden Day attendees. We'll provide a steady flow of coffee, tea and snacks to get you through the rest of the day.

Where?

Tennenbacherstr 4 Room 201

Still not convinced?

Feedback from our first GOLDEN DAY participants was overwhelmingly positive! We had students make a good start on new writing, finish things they'd been putting off for months, and leave feeling reassured and energised after talking to the other students about their writing projects. We now have some serial attenders and the news is still good, Golden Days work! It's just one day, what do you have to lose by trying?!
