The Graduate School is pleased to announce this year's (Virtual) Night of Sciences.

The "Night of Science" aims to bring together researchers in the faculty (including masters students) and create a space for critical, cross-disciplinary dialogue and learning.

This year, our focus is on the interplay between science and environmental decision-making.

Research on Environment, Society, and Global Change (ESGC) is strongly guided by and oriented towards social expectations, be it as contributions to solving the climate crisis, halting biodiversity loss, securing a sustainable food or energy supply, or other "grand societal challenges."

With this in mind, the Night of Science 2020 engages with the question:

What role can science play in environmental decision making?"

The answers to this question can vary greatly - depending on each scientist's willingness to engage with stakeholders and decision-makers, on the research field, on the target "users" of the research results, to name just a few examples. We look forward to a lively and enriching discussion with members of our faculty in which we share our experiences and thoughts on this highly relevant topic.
